Zach (legolas) and I were up for hours brainstorming new ideas for the site. Here's what we've decided to do.

The buttons on the top of the screen will change to: Home, Forum, Projects, Tutorials, Reviews, Contact.

The forum will remain as it is (for now)

The projects, tutorials and reviews pages will move into the 21st century. Any registered user will be able to post a project, tutorial, or review.
Projects
Any registered user* will be able to add a computer/tech project to the project page. This will include being able to add a text write-up, a photo galery, and an embedded youtube or flash video. Other users will be able to rate your project, and comment on it. Projects will able able to be sorted by date, rating, etc...

Tutorials
Any registered user* will be allowed to add a tutorial. This can include embedded videos, pictures, and text. Similarly to the projects, other users will be able to rate your tutorials and comment on them.

Reviews
Any registered user* will be able to post a review for a computer or tech project. This can include text, pictures, and embedded video. You will able to provide your rating for the products based on a pre-determined scale (probably 0-5 stars). Other users will be able to comment on and rate your reviews.

*there will probably be a minimum post count (from the forum) before registered users can post these, to prevent registering and spamming. I think it may be around 20.

Okay, so that's what we've come up with. Don't expect this to happen immediately, or exactly to these specifications. We will likely need outside help to pull this off, and it will probably take a few months.

I think those look like great ideas. I'll be looking forward to seeing them implemented.

Anyway we can get a chat room of some kind?

Oh yes, good point. I will put that on my to-do list. That can replace the contact link on the top, and it can be moved elsewhere.

Yeah they seem like great ideas, I love the idea of members being able to post help videos etc.
For the chat room idea could we have more of a one to one chat room rather than one of them quick messages boards.

We will each have our own chat user register to our forum accounts or is it gonna work out some other way?

I was thinking more of a chat room like you see on G4, bunch of people talking to each other. Though it should be for members with a certain amount of post to prevent spamming

I'm going to work it into the forum user system. So yes, I should be able to require post minimums, and you should be able to use your current usernames.

Yeah cause we dont want it to kill the Forums off, Keep the forums good with a small chat room for people who need help fast.

Yes, exactly my thinking as well. In fact, I'd like to use the chat room as more of a social place than a computer help place.

How are you planning to keep it as a social place and not a computer help place?

I was think the same thing, you won't be able to monitor it 24/7 and say NO COMPUTER TALK USE THE FORUMS. Maybe just keep it there for like you said social and general chat and for people who need a quick help. The forums are good for alot of users views as differant people come on at differant times.

I mean admins who monitor not the users who will be useing it also

Of course I can't monitor the chat 100%, but I will post rules stating that the chat is more of a social thing, not for people who are requesting help with a specific topic.

I assume everybody likes the idea of keeping the chat as a social kinda thing?

I like that idea as well.

I partly agree, I like meeting new people. Reason why I add people on msn and skype etc. But I think it would be good for a kind of computer chat. But I won't rule break and if it's going to be for social chat I will comply.

Granted, I think all of us are into computers and tech and stuff. Of course you can talk about that kinda stuff in the chat. I just don't want it turning into a replacement for the forum.

Yes ofcourse. That's what I was trying to say. We don't want it destroying the forums.
