Use some version of linux? I know very little about it but Ubuntu is popular.

Yeah Linux is free and has no trial whatsoever. Pretty good too.

I think he is also asking how to set it up guys. So if you give a recommendation of a specific operating system, do you also have a tutorial? He already knows there are tons of options, he just needs a tutorial for w\e permanent option you are recommending.

I had the same problem a while ago... just like this: every says, "yah linux!" Yah linux... but no help whatsoever after installing linux... stuck @ the desktop for like 2 months trying to figure stuff out.

To the man:

& if you can think of a way to transfer 22.2mb PDF I might be able to help you. I finally got a "dl'ed" linux tutorial book (just got it less than 10 minutes ago actually.... friend drove over to drop it off on a flash drive).

It specifically uses Fedora Core 4 and php to setup a webserver. I think it might be pretty similar to UC.net (this website).

P.S. --> I really did just get it... it's a really long book & I haven't had time to see if it's good or not. But after glancing over it... it definitely should get you in the right direction. But no guarantees on my end. & I can't help you with it until march when I go home to get my 9 year old dell with linux on it.

sorry for getting back to slow, for some reason my monitor is fuzzy and i cant get it to go back to the way it was, i even rolled back teh driver and this is still fuzzy. I have seen several linux based software, ive tried freenas without luck and apache on ubuntu and neither would allow other computers to connect to them.

@JoJo2 isnt there free ways of emailing large files? idk, never had to try to transpher a 22mb pdf, whats the max this site will allow you to upload in the attachments? i guess theres always the old school way with xfire or msnmessenger! lol
